“Oluam 3: Hot Empire” or the so called “HOT Empiros” is a group of jingle competitiors that is mainly composed of 19 young students of Muntinlupa National High School.

PRE-DEBUT

Last June 2006, “III-Sapphire” (batch 06-07) was coincidently composed of “jingle addict” and gifted students. They were well-known as the “Behlequoiz.” The group name was adapted from the packed kakanin called “Belecoy” which was their all-time favorite food during their practice and siesta time. Behlequoiz became the first placeholder of the 3^rd-year level.

During the Science Month Jingle competition, they aspired to beat the school’s jingle champion, “Oluam Junior.” They considered them as great competitors so they didn’t hesitate to make better compositions. They where hailed as the champion for the 3^rd-year level but their goal to beat Oluam Junior failed for the science coordinators decided to cancel the said competition.

S.Y. 2007-2008

HOT EMPIRE: Name’s Origin

Equipped with confidence, IV-Emerald batch 07-08 decided to change their name for their new and better image. Since they were proud to be “Sapirian” (Sapphire) and an “Eme” (Emerald), they combined the two names and formed “Empire.” To make the name powerful, they added the word “HOT” for a hot revenge and sizzling jinglerz.

NUTRITION MONTH: “Healthy Lifestyle ng Kabataan, Landas ng Kinabukasan”

Special Class Students were not allowed to join Nutrition Month’s Jingle Competition for some reasons.

FILIPINO MONTH: “Maraming Wika, Matatag na Bansa”

Since they were Oluam Junior’s successor, more pressure awaits for there were many jingle competitors who wanted to steal the title champion.

On August 30, 2007, after their great performance, they won the first place followed by IV-Diamond, III-Ivory, II-Amethyst & another group from IV-Diamond. At the same time, Hot Empire was chosen to be the 3rd batch of Oluam.

SCIENCE MONTH: “Science Clubbing Towards a More Science-Conscious Citizenry”

On the year level competition, they only got the 3rd place but it didn’t mean they ended there. Many believed that they have the guts to compete for the Division Level, so they were automatically sent to Alabang Elementary School to compete on September 27, 2007. Pedro E. Diaz High School got the first place followed by Muntinlupa National High School (Hot Empire) with a point one (.1) difference on their averages.

Oluam 3 presented their winning piece the next day on MNHS’s school level competition as an intermission number. III-Ivory won the first place followed by Chabu (4th year from different sections), II-Amethyst and I-Garnet.

ENGLISH MONTH: “Family Literacy: Reading Begins With Us”

MNHS students were surprised when the original batch of Oluam came on the jingle competition’s venue last November 16, 2007. They didn’t know that they have a jingle presentation, at the same time, the panel of judges for the event.

Oluam judges gave fair judgment on every group. IV-Emerald (HOT Empire) won the first place, II-Amethyst won the second place, and III-Ivory for the third place.

VALUES MONTH: “Pamilyang Pilipino: Sandigan ng Kabataan”

HOT Empire got the title champion for the Values Month’s Jingle Competition last December 4, 2007.

MATH MONTH: “Revitalizing Math Education for Progress”

This is the most awaited month for jingle competitors for it is the last jingle contest for this school year. This time, the contest had a different style. Each group has to showcase their composition using only “tunog-tao” (human sound) while singing. The use of any accompaniment is not allowed. They were also required to put raps on their piece.

For HOT Empire, it is new and a big challenge for they were using beat box as accompaniment for the past competitions. Pressure were felt when only three day were left before the competition.

During the year level competition, January 25, 2008, HOT Empire was the first to present. They gave their best to show what they’ve got. But after the contest, a confusing result was announced. HOT Empire wasn’t called.

Fourth year students and teachers felt pressured because third year & second year groups have better compositions than theirs. (In the past jingle competitions, fourth year students always win). With this, a teacher planned to combine IV-Diamond (2nd place) and IV-Emerald (no place). Due to some conflicts and issues, the two sections did not combine.

On the final battle, January 30, 2008, II-Amethyst (group name: Rhythmizers) was hailed as 2008 Math Month’s Jingle Champion.

POST-GRADUATION

HOT Empiros days were over, but still they have the “TATAK OLUAM” in their hearts.

TRIVIA

HOT Empire is the first “Section B” who was chosen to be a member of OLUAMania.

Shamae Cruz was the third Oluam member to be the president of SSG in MNHS after Abigail Castilla of Oluam and Reynald Solero of Oluam Junior.

Edlyn Sandoval died on May 16, 2010 at the age of 18. She was the second Oluam member who passed away.
